  • In the beginning, the most optimal frequency will be weekly. As progress is made, shifting the frequency to every other week, monthly, etc. is common and appropriate. The frequency depends on many things and ultimately, it’s the clients’ decision.

  • I am available by appointment. The regular schedule is on weekdays from morning through afternoon.

  • 1040 East 86th Street Indianapolis Indiana 46240

It's in the Nora area of Indianapolis within the Winterton Office Complex off 86th Street. It's on the same side of the street as Target (just next door) and Whole Foods.

As you pull in to the Winterton Office Complex, you will drive straight and when the parking lot opens up and you look straight ahead, that's Building Number 1040. Entering the door under the awning at the center of the Building 1040, literally will walk you right into the waiting room.

The office is on the ground floor.

  • There is. We ask that appointments cancelled or rescheduled are done so at least 24 hours before the appointment time reserved. This allows time to contact those on the waitlist and make the appointment available for someone else. The minimum fee for a late cancellation or no show is $100 or higher, to reflect your chosen rate.

  • This is an important question! I offer a collective care / equitable care pricing model that provides flexibility in the chosen rate, based on an honor system for clients to consider their particulars and resources.

The short answer is $100 at minimum at this time.

The rate for a 60 minute meetings, with myself – a fully independently licensed clinician with advanced training when OPTING OUT of the collective care pricing model is $135.00.

When it’s needed and the office can accommodate a rate lower than $100, I will.  This varies over the year depending on many variables. Inquiries welcome.

Currently, the office is at its capacity for the number of clients whose chosen rate is under $100 by currently accommodating rates as low as $35 through $90.

Some history when choosing to offer a Collective/Equitable Care Pricing Model instead of a sliding scale: When my office moved to private pay in 2021, I searched for an option that allowed flexibility, based on needs and resources and on an honor system, to work to keep my doors open to all whose needs are within my scope of practice, AND without requiring financial documentation. Inevitably, it would be those with the most financial need who would be subjected to providing financial documentation and that was something I was invested in avoiding. This office has maintained the practice of each client choosing their own rate since 2021. It’s based on an honor system, considering each individual’s particular resources (ie education, income, employment, HSA, savings, using OON benefits, someone helping with their expenses, etc.,) and frequency of meeting/s. It also involves information from this office informing of how low of fee the office can go at the time of starting our work together. When one chooses the Collective/Equitable Care Pricing Model, the office will check in and review the rate at least every 6 months. Clients are welcome to as well.

At this time, the lowest rate available, for new clients is $100, When clients’ resources can afford a higher rate, this allows this Collective/Equitable Care Pricing Model to endure as it works to balance out lower rates.

I’ve found that this option has been stressful for some~ discussing money, asserting themselves, not wanting to short change me while also looking at what they can afford without causing hardship at the frequency of meeting needed. It’s been therapeutic! I’ve also found clients really appreciate this model, the flexibility, contributing to others being able to access the service as well as restoring faith in humanity and much appreciation for this option.

It is explained more before scheduling.

  • The ONLY 3rd party payer, this office uses is Compsych.   This is an Employee Assistant Program.

Otherwise, my services are available via private pay.

When I went to private pay in 2021, it was to allow my focus, time and efforts be on client care vs. seeking reimbursement and/or responding to the ongoing, various limitations and/or glitches with insurance carriers.

My office will provide a detailed receipt (superbill) and assess for a diagnosis (something insurance carriers require) for clients who want to use their Out Of Network (OON).

Should you like to use your insurance’s Out of Network benefits, you would pay for the service at the time of the meeting. I will provide you a ‘superbill’ that you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.

*It’s important to let me know if you want this option, of using your OON benefits, so I can take the necessary steps for assessing for a diagnosis, something an insurance carrier will require.

I recommend you contact your insurance carrier to confirm if your insurance plan has OON benefits for mental health services. I’ll happily provide a list of questions to help you with this process if you’d like.

Otherwise, clients pay me privately and don’t involve their insurance carrier.

  • A mental health diagnosis is required to use your insurance for counseling and this becomes part of your medical record. This can later effect life insurance as well as employee clearance, etc., Also, if your difficulties don’t meet the criteria of a diagnosis then the insurance carrier can choose to not cover your therapy.

Insurance carriers can put a limit on the number of counseling sessions before truly completing your process. Insurance companies have the right to call the therapist and ask about personal health information, your progress, get a copy of the chart, etc., And, at any point, they may deem that therapy is no longer medically necessary and cancel the coverage.

By paying privately, it allows each client to make the decision of the frequency that we meet and how long we meet. This is something we can discuss but ultimately, this provides you the most freedom, flexibility and confidentiality.

  • The time reserved for the initial meeting is 75-90minutes. Sometimes, folks would prefer to get scheduled quicker and we set aside 60-75 minutes together for the initial meeting.

The regular time set aside for meetings is 60 minutes. Time is taken during this 60 minutes to reschedule.

Special Note~ Longer sessions (90-120 minutes) for EMDR, especially when it’s new is welcomed and available. The fee for these meetings are adjusted to reflect the different time scheduled.

Ms. Holcomb also is available for Intensives, for EMDR reprocessing. These are highly concentrated sessions with longer session times and increased frequency during the week.

  • Typically, clients contact Kaye and they schedule a free, 30 minute phone consultation which is used for Q and A as well as getting scheduled. In addition, clients are welcome to email Kaye and some discussion can briefly occur before getting scheduled.
